5 PRC Building Services Projects That Show the Range of Its Work

PRC Building Services works across commercial, industrial and mining projects in Western Australia, and its project history shows how varied that work can be. Some projects involve major roof and wall installations. Others involve asbestos removal, structural upgrades, remote-site logistics or tightly planned shutdown work on active industrial sites.
These five projects give a useful picture of the different types of work PRC handles.
- Rottnest Island Asbestos Removal and Roof Replacement
The Rottnest Island project involved replacing around 10,000 square metres of roofing across accommodation blocks, barracks and heritage-listed buildings.
The roofing work was only part of the challenge. Every material, tool and piece of equipment had to be transported to the island by barge, while private vehicles are not allowed on Rottnest. PRC worked with local authorities on transport, set up temporary accommodation for its crews and completed the project one month ahead of schedule.
The job is a good example of PRC handling a large roof replacement where access and logistics needed just as much planning as the installation itself.
- Woolworths Clarkson Roof and Wall Installation
At Woolworths Clarkson, PRC Building Services delivered the roof and wall cladding package for a large commercial retail development.
The work included a complete roofing and wall cladding system designed to create a durable building envelope for the finished store. This project sits at a very different end of the market from remote mining work and shows the company’s experience on major commercial developments in the Perth area. It also demonstrates the cladding side of the business, which regularly sits alongside PRC’s commercial roofing work.
- Newman Boiler Bay Expansion
PRC’s Newman Boiler Bay project took the team into the Pilbara for a specialist mining and industrial roofing package.
The work included roof and wall cladding, Anticon insulation, engineered safety netting, custom static louvres, ridge ventilation, gutters, downpipes and flashings. The job also involved working alongside several other contractors in challenging weather conditions.
This is the kind of project where roofing, ventilation and cladding all need to work together as part of a larger industrial building rather than being treated as separate jobs.
- Train Unloader 1 Shutdown Assistance
The Train Unloader 1 project in Port Hedland was very different again. PRC was brought in during a planned maintenance shutdown to create roof access for major rail replacement work inside the facility.
The team removed roof sheeting, ridge vents and purlins across two roof bays so a crane could reach the equipment below. Once the rail work was finished, PRC reinstated the roof using new cyclonic-rated sheeting, safety wire and ridge ventilation.
The important part of this project was timing. Everything had to fit inside the planned shutdown window so the wider operation could return to service as scheduled.
- Cape Lambert Structural Upgrade
At Cape Lambert, PRC completed a $3 million workshop refurbishment and structural upgrade for Rio Tinto.
The 14-week project included a full roof replacement, wall re-cladding, structural steel upgrades, new roller doors, ventilation, air conditioning upgrades, ceiling replacement, concrete work and protective painting.
That scope shows how far PRC Building Services can go beyond a standard roofing package when a commercial or industrial building needs wider refurbishment work. The project was completed on time and on budget, with no recorded safety incidents or operational downtime.
